Thank you to everyone who attended the recent Town Hall hosted by Councilman Graham and continues to stay engaged in protecting the future of the Mountain Island Lake area.
We wanted to share an important update:
The developer has once again deferred the rezoning request next to Cooks Church—this time until October.
This is a clear indication that our voices are having an impact. The growing number of petition signatures, community feedback, and ongoing conversations are making a difference.
The Mountain Island Lake Community Alliance is actively working with CDOT and NCDOT to push for infrastructure solutions that must come before any new development. This delay gives us more time to organize and strengthen our message—but we must keep up the momentum.
Here’s how you can help:
- Share the petition with friends, neighbors, and local organizations.
- Talk to your HOA or neighborhood group about what’s happening.
- Stay engaged—every voice counts.
Thank you for standing up for responsible, community-centered growth. Together, we can continue to make a real difference.
With gratitude,
Mountain Island Lake Community Alliance
