Hello Overlook neighbors!

Did you know that over half of children in our community live below the poverty line and can’t afford basic school supplies? This means that 1 in 2, more than 130,000, local students start school without the essentials they need to feel included and succeed in the classroom.

This summer, the Overlook Social Committee is partnering with Classroom Central to host a 9 School Tools supply drive from Saturday, August 1, through Saturday, August 15, just in time for back-to-school sales in stores.

Here are two ways to help us reach our goal of collecting $500 worth of supplies for local students and teachers:

• Drop off supplies at 4304 Mountain Cove Drive (at the corner with the first stop sign on Overlook Mountain Drive)
  • There will be a well-marked bin at the bottom of the driveway during daylight hours.
  • The nine most needed items are pencils, crayons, colored markers, highlighters, dry-erase markers, composition books, filler paper, glue sticks, and pocket folders.
• Give online through our very own neighborhood webpage.
  • You can shop directly or make a financial donation.
  • Every $1 donated becomes $9 worth of supplies.
